Animal Care Internships - Multiple Positions Available!
Now Accepting Applications for the Summer 2022 Internship season (May-August)
Animal Care interns help in all aspects of operations including the full rehabilitation process, the daily care of injured and orphaned wildlife and their enclosures, the general animal husbandry of the facility, assisting with transport as needed, and communications with the wildlife rehabilitation network in western North Carolina. Interns assist in facility upkeep and maintenance as needed and are provided the opportunity to experience all aspects of the non-profit if there is interest.
No two days in wildlife rehabilitation are the same. Interns must be flexible, dedicated, dependable, and comfortable working in a team setting with fellow interns and volunteers as well as communicating with the public as needed.
Interns are required to commit to a 4-5 month internship period, and will carry out a weekly set schedule that they are accountable for during the entirety of their internship. Hour commitments are based on seasonal needs. Summer 2022 term is May-August with a minimum requirement of 24 hours per week. Many positions available and will be filled on a rolling basis following the initial application deadline of April 15, 2022.
Internships are non-paid and currently Appalachian Wild does not provide housing.
