This female cooter is missing a caudal piece of her carapace, leaving her more vulnerable to injury in the wild. In addition, she struggles to stay fully submerged when swimming.

She is good tempered and coexists peacefully with other turtles and would make an excellent educational ambassador. Because of her limitations in the water, she requires a primarily dry-docked enclosure to be most comfortable in a new home. She has no issues in shallow water.

If you are interested in this turtle, please feel free to contact us and we will be happy to provide more information or answer any questions. Serious inquiries only. Email is the best way to reach our staff for inquiries about this animal: marjan@awarewildlife.org or nicole@awarewildlife.org. For your convenience, her reference number is 24-0421.

Please do not let distance stand in the way of bringing her home; we are always happy to help coordinate travel for nonreleasable animals.
