Hit by a vehicle in North Carolina, Buffy suffered severe L eye damage and a globe deflation leaving her non-visual in that eye. Deemed non-releasable, Buffy was moved to an educational ambassadorship and began training as a glove bird. She was then transferred to Teton Raptor Center to continue her training and role as an education ambassador. Under veterinary council, Buffy underwent a successful eye evisceration surgery in May of this year and has since completely recovered.
