Oliver, our education Short-Eared Owl, was found in 2017 in Canisteo, NY with a broken left wing and has been with the Cornell Raptor Program as an education bird since then. Our center primarily does education programs with glove-trained birds, and since Oliver does not do well on the glove and gets stressed around people we feel he would do better in a display setting with minimal handling. Despite his left wing injury he is partially flighted and moves around his mews well, although he is prone to breaking feathers on his left wing. He currently receives meloxicam (in food) twice daily as a long-term medication to alleviate any chronic pain.
Oliver is currently possessed by the Cornell Raptor Program under a federal exempt status, and as such can only be placed with another federally exempt facility.
