WRA is seeking an energetic, highly organized, & multi-talented Volunteer Coordinator.The coordinator plays a pivotal role in Canada’s busiest wildlife rehabilitation centre, as we have a thriving volunteer program that includes nearly 200 active volunteers. Vision, leadership, integrity, & the initiative to make our volunteer program even more effective are essential to this role
Position: Volunteer Coordinator
Hours: 32 hours, permanent
Start Date: ASAP
Volunteer positions are found in many areas at WRA such as animal care, rescue & transport, admissions & helpline, data entry, education, grounds & maintenance, fundraising, marketing, volunteer management & special projects
• plan & grow the volunteer program to meet the needs of the organization
• work with program leaders to coordinate the planning & development of volunteering
• develop training opportunities for volunteers
• develop & encourage strong, regular & personal relationships with active volunteers
• liaise with international volunteer organizations & organizations seeking volunteer experiences
• organize volunteer appreciation events & other recognition pieces
• Organize a variety of events for the association
• assist with human resources activities
Essential Skills, Experience & Qualifications:
• legal entitlement to work in BC, Canada
• ability to thrive in a fast-paced & constantly changing environment
• experience managing a volunteer program
• exceptional time & task management skills
• ability to coach, motivate volunteers while having the ability to resolve conflict in a positive manner
• very strong verbal & written communications
• comfortable & experienced in developing & delivering training sessions & manuals
• strong IT skills
• ability to work in a collaborative, pro-active environment with a high degree of autonomy & accountability
• willingness to work flexible hours including occasional evenings & weekends
Our ideal candidate will also have
• membership of the AVRBC
• experience with online training platforms
• experience working in a non-profit organization
• experience in Human Resources a plus
• experience coordinating events
• personal volunteering experience
• a keen interest in wildlife & nature
