WILDSIDE Rehabilitation and Education Center, is a non-profit organization, opened in 1995 and devoted to the rehabilitation and release of sick, injured and orphaned wildlife. We are one of the largest wildlife rehabilitation centers in Michigan, each year treating approximately 1200-2000 animals, representing over 50 different wildlife species.
We also provide outreach programs for audiences of all ages regarding native Michigan wildlife, rehabilitation, humane solutions to human-wildlife conflicts, and how the public can help Michigan’s wildlife.

Preferred applicants will have a background in Animal Husbandry, Zoology, Environmental Sciences, Fisheries and Wildlife, Integrative Biology, Veterinary Technician, Veterinary Science or similar areas.
Valid driver’s license Must be at least 18 years old
Proficient in Google documents; willing to learn WILDSIDE’s database
Subject to modified/flexible work schedule, including some weekends, holiday and evenings hours
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
Capacity to multitask, excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communications skills
Dependable, reliable and team player with a collaborative working style.
Physically able to stand, kneel or walk for extended period, lift up to 50 lbs and work outside in all types of weather conditions

Intern's duties encompass most aspects of wildlife rehabilitation including, but not limited to:
Performing basic patient care and treatment; food preparation and feeding, syringe feeding infant mammals, hand feeding nestling and fledgling songbirds, cleaning habitats and cages, washing dishes, laundry, and observing and evaluating patients
Administering medications, assisting with medical treatments, and performing initial exams (all under staff supervision)
Learning natural histories of wildlife
Maintaining accurate records on patients
Rescuing and transporting wildlife, under staff supervision
Possible opportunities to assist at education programs in our community

Internship Terms
Internships are offered in the spring, summer, and fall
Interns work 20-40 hours per week including some weekend and holiday work
Interns are unpaid. Housing and transportation assistance are not provided.
Seasonal internship opportunities and application deadlines are listed below:
• Spring Internships: Jan. 1st -April 30th (applications accepted November 1st-December 15th of previous year)
• Summer Internships: May 1st-Aug. 31st (applications accepted February 1st- April 15th)
• Fall Internships: Sept.1st -Dec. 31st (applications accepted July 1st – August 15th)
