Luci was a victim of electrocution. Due to that she lost the end of her right wing. She has an amputation at the wrist joint with the alula intact to protect the amputation site. She is otherwise healthy. Luci has been on our education permits since 2017 and we have attempted glove training with no success. She is currently on static display. She has a small weight window where she is willing to work, but is not comfortable on the glove. She is trained to scale and will target/station. We cannot currently give her the housing that she deserves - that would be a larger space where people are not able to get too close to her.

Luci gets around extremely well. She is able to rip and tear food, maintain her feathers, move from perch to perch and bathe appropriately. She has never had bumblefoot or any issues with her feet. She is picked up twice a year for health exams and beak/talon trims.

For the most part, she tends to ignore people that she sees frequently. She will remain on the perch when staff is in cleaning, shows no signs of fear or looking for a way to escape.
When a stranger gets near (or a particular staff member that she is not used to) she will jump to the ground and menace - holding her wings out, fluffing out her feathers and vocalizing (she is the loudest eagle). She has been known to chase people out of her space. If she has a bigger space and can keep her comfort zone larger, I feel she would be fine.

Luci is an adult Bald Eagle, around 12 years of age. We have attempted glove training and she does not seem to want to be that close to people. I believe Luci's mental/emotional health would be greatly improved in a larger habitat where she could be on static display and be further away from people. She is trained to go to scale and will station when asked.
