Cassie Trangsrud is an attorney and licensed wildlife rehabilitator based in Arlington, Virginia. Her career has centered on advocacy for vulnerable populations, including service as a captain in the Army JAG Corps, where she was among the first attorneys detailed to represent military victims of sexual assault, and as a state prosecutor. She has held positions across criminal, administrative, and family law at both federal and state levels, and holds an LLM in dispute resolution. Cassie serves as a family law mediator, a Court Appointed Special Advocate for children in foster care, and a hospital accompaniment advocate for survivors of assault through Doorways, a community-based nonprofit. She joined the IWRC board in January 2026 and looks forward to taking Eastern Cottontails for the first time this spring. An avid reader, she lives in Arlington with her husband and her dog, Ladybird, and enjoys spending as much time as possible in nature.
