Job Summary
The Auburn University Raptor Center is seeking a passionate Raptor Rehab Specialist to join their team, where you’ll play a vital role in hands-on raptor rehabilitation, husbandry, and medical care. As part of the renowned College of Veterinary Medicine, this position offers a unique chance to contribute to education, conservation, and the recovery of these magnificent birds of prey. Essential Functions
Oversee daily rehabilitation operations, ensuring aviaries are maintained, perching and substrates are in good condition, and supplies are stocked.
Provides daily husbandry for rehabilitation patients, including husbandry, feeding, and assisting with medical care under veterinary guidance.
Develops and implements rehabilitation protocols, including flight conditioning, falconry techniques, handling practices, and SOP creation.
Train and oversee rehabilitation staff and volunteers, overseeing daily tasks and ensuring effective communication.
Implements pre-release evaluations, including flight conditioning plans, releasability assessments, and decisions on release, euthanasia, or placement.
Supports administrative tasks, including volunteer scheduling and records, supply ordering, medical documentation and public inquiries.
Trains veterinary students in raptor husbandry techniques and provides lectures and labs.
Participates in outreach and research, developing and delivering presentations and supporting Raptor Center initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications
The Raptor Rehab Specialist position will be filled at Level I, II, or III based on education and experience.

Level I: Bachelor’s degree in wildlife or veterinary sciences (or related field) with no experience.
Level II: Bachelor’s degree in wildlife or veterinary sciences (or related field) plus 2 years of raptor rehab and husbandry experience.
Level III: Bachelor’s degree in wildlife or veterinary sciences (or related field) plus 4 years of rehab and husbandry experience.

Minimum License and Certifications
Driver License, valid and in state

Desired Qualifications
General or Master Falconer
Permitted or experience in Raptor Banding through USGS
Certified Euthanasia Technician (CET)
Certified Wildlife Rehabilitator (CWR)
Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT or Equivalent)

Salary Range $38,860 -$83,280
