Job Summary
The Executive TES Clinician will provide part-time veterinary medical and surgical support to the Auburn University Raptor Center (AURC), ensuring high standards of clinical care for injured, ill, or orphaned raptors undergoing rehabilitation or resident educational ambassadors. This role supports continuity of patient care, assists with case management, and provides clinical mentorship to veterinary students and interns. The position requires collaboration with AURC staff in both the Education and Rehabilitation departments and integration with the mission pillars of conservation, education, and rehabilitation.

This temporary appointment is designed to augment AURC’s veterinary team during periods of increased caseload, staff outages, or program expansion.

Temporary Employment Services (TES), a unit of the Auburn University Department of Human Resources, is an in-house support center established to meet the temporary employment needs of the university. TES provides qualified and dedicated temporary employees in a wide variety of occupations to meet the staffing needs throughout the campus. Temporary employees are hired for a variety of reasons with the most common being:

Assistance in the place of a regular employee who is absent for a specified period of time
Additional assistance during periods of abnormal or peak workloads
Assistance with special projects
Seasonal work
Emergencies

Essential Functions
Clinical Case Management
Examine, diagnose, and treat raptors presented for rehabilitation
Support annual exams and ongoing health care for resident raptors
Perform surgical and non-surgical procedures as needed
Develop and implement treatment and rehabilitation plans
Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with institutional protocols and federal/state regulations.
Support of Ongoing Medical Operations
Assist in daily rounds and patient monitoring.
Coordinate with staff to provide continuity of care during clinician absences or high patient load periods.
Respond to emergency cases and triage newly admitted patients as needed.
Support with On-Call duties on a rotating schedule for weekends and holidays

Mentorship and Teaching
Provide clinical instruction and mentorship to veterinary students, interns, and residents participating in raptor care rotations.
Contribute to a positive and supportive learning environment that emphasizes high standards of avian medicine and welfare.

Minimum Qualifications
The qualified applicant must hold a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree or equivalent degree at the time employment begins. The candidate selected for this position must be able to meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment. Eligibility for faculty veterinary licensure in the State of Alabama is also required.
