Part-time Volunteer & Intern Coordinator position at Center for Wildlife opens December 2025.

Center for Wildlife (CFW) is looking for a motivated and curious individual with a passion for humans,
wildlife, and conservation to join our growing team. This position is part-time, (24 hrs/wk) and will be
responsible for the recruitment, interviewing and hiring of our volunteers and interns. CFW utilizes over 100
volunteers and interns annually between the Wildlife Medical Clinic and Education & Outreach Departments.

POSITION PURPOSE
Under the supervision of the Medical Clinic and Operations Director, the Volunteer and Intern Coordinator (VIC) is charged with maintaining and growing a viable and attractive Volunteer and Internship Program. Specifically, the VIC is responsible for: recruiting, hiring, scheduling, and training coordination of up to 150 Wildlife and Ambassador Care, Nature Center Guide, Admissions, and Facilities volunteers and interns annually. This position is a member of the support staff team and works up to 24 hours per week, including weekends and holidays as needed.

I. ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES Priority Weight Assigned
Volunteer and Internship Program Support 90%
1. Manages the recruiting, interviewing and hiring of volunteer and internship positions with support
from program staff
Duties include:
a. Works with program directors to analyze staffing needs, set goals, and recruit accordingly
b. Processes application requests, interview, hire and ensures non-paid staffing levels meet seasonal needs
c. Guides applicants through the application and onboarding process to ensure understanding of
organizational policies, goals, and safety protocols
d. Adheres to activities and deadlines set via Volunteer and Intern Program calendars and make
recommendations for updating based on market changes in orientation, recruitment, and interviewing
e. Utilizes recruitment and advertising strategies set for each program and provide input on additional
recruitment strategies and/or needs
f. Collaborates with outreach and marketing staff on PR, online promotion and online orientation/training
materials for programs as needed
g. Maintains and updates calendars and schedules to reflect volunteers and interns on site for each day,
communicating changes/updates to relevant program staff
h. Assists in coordinating enrichment and workshops with program staff
i. Maintains up-to-date records and databases of volunteers and interns, tracking contact information,
hours, demographics, and other relevant information for reporting and program improvement
j. Cultivates and maintains relationships with area colleges and universities in natural resource and other
relevant departments

Organization-Wide Support, Duties, and Expectations 10%
a. Operates as part of the CFW team by attending All Team Meetings, contributing to policies and
procedures, attending 2 out of 4 of the fundraising events
b. Punctual and ready to begin work at start time
c. Supports and fosters positive work culture
d. Remains up to date with organizational policies, protocols, messaging, and handbook
e. Maintains a growth mindset and being active in critical thinking and problem solving processes with
coworkers
f. Recommends initiatives and changes to improve quality and services for CFW and areas of responsibility
g. Works with other areas to coordinate workflow and activities to insure a seamless operation
h. Prepares progress reports, informs supervisor of project status and deviation from goals
i. Ensures completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of all operation functions
j. Establishes rapport with diverse range of staff, interns, volunteers, and constituents
k. Maintains dignity and self-control in difficult situations
l. Assists staff in other areas as needed, all other duties as assigned

III. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Associate’s or certification from a college or university in the fields of Business, Administration, or
Communications preferred. Experience recruiting, training, scheduling, and managing a large volunteer staff
required.
