Can the animal express species-typical behaviors (e.g. eat appropriate whole foods, climb, perch, groom, dig, fly, swim, ambulate normally for species)?:

Yes. Feeds well and has excellent mobility within enclosure. Excellent flight but not adequate for survival in the wild. Wing droop is minor and only evident when the bird is tired.

Can the animal be handled without negative welfare affects?: no

This is how the animal currently reacts when a frequent caregiver nears it (e.g. does it modify behavior, show signs of fear, agonism, habituation):

She shows avoidance behaviors when approached. Flying to high perches, etc We have used this bird for education programs in the past but she requires more maintenance training than we are able to provide so does not fit well into our education program. Would make an excellent display bird. Has potential as an education animal with an experienced handler and adequate time to invest.
