Will Funk is the Director of Rehabilitation at WildCare Oklahoma, overseeing the rehabilitation and care of more than 7300 patients a year representing more than 230 species. A graduate from the Royal Veterinary College with a Masters degree in Wild Animal Biology and Oklahoma State University with Bachelors degrees in Biology and Natural Resource Ecology and Management, Will is a Certified Wildlife Rehabilitator, Certified Animal Euthanasia Technician, and is currently working towards a Master of Public Health from Oklahoma State University.
With over 12 years of experience in the veterinary field and 7 years specifically in wildlife rehabilitation, Will has worked with wildlife in Australia, Africa, Europe, and North America, as well as marine mammals. Will has extensive experience in veterinary nursing, chemical immobilization, and post-mortem investigations, and has received certifications from organizations such as Safe Capture International, The British Divers Marine Mammal Rescue, the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care, and the Oklahoma State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners.
Outside of rehabilitation, Will is interested in research related to wildlife health, disease outbreaks, and anthropogenic stressors on wildlife populations. In addition to those interests, Will is an experienced field biologist with a background in data collection and management in a variety of ecological surveys, including vegetation surveys, avian mist netting and banding, mammalian surveys and trapping, and stream health surveys. His research experience includes a wide range of subjects, including parasitology, botany, toxicology, and animal welfare and behavior. Additionally, Will serves on multiple Boards of Directors for conservation minded non-profits and professional organizations.
