Athos, Porthos, and Aramis Brown Pelicans

These three pelicans were all hit by cars. Aramis had a severe humerus fracture, and USFWS pre-approved us amputating the wing above the elbow. Athos has a shoulder out of place and is highly mobile, and Porthos has a fused elbow fracture.

All three birds ambulate easily, have good balance and perching, bathe, exhibit social behaviors, and are in good body condition. Athos can fly somewhat though not enough to be released.

These birds have been handled for routine wellness checks, medication, and storm preparation. They return comfortably to their normal behaviors.
They are wary of approach but comfortable with their routine and understand cleaning and feeding.
