Austin Wildlife Rescue is a non-profit organization dedicated to the rehabilitation and conservation of wildlife species in the Austin area. Our mission is to care for and rehabilitate injured, sick, and orphaned animals, with the goal of releasing them back into their natural habitats. We also strive to educate the community about wildlife conservation and the importance of coexisting with local wildlife.

Job Description:
Austin Wildlife Rescue is seeking a passionate and experienced individual to join our team as the Philanthropy Officer, where the main goal is to develop and implement fundraising strategies to meet financial goals. This includes cultivating relationships with donors, overseeing fundraising events, researching and submitting grants, and collaborating with other staff to maximize fundraising efforts. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker, relationship builder, and results-oriented professional who is committed to advancing our mission through effective fundraising strategies and donor engagement.

Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Vision: Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies and campaigns to support the financial sustainability and growth of Austin Wildlife Rescue.
2. Donor Cultivation and Stewardship: Identify, cultivate, and steward relationships with individual donors, corporate sponsors, foundations, and other potential funding sources to secure financial support for the organization's programs and initiatives.
3. Fundraising Events: Plan, coordinate, and execute fundraising events and activities in conjunction with Executive Director and Outreach Manager.
4. Database Management: Maintain database system to maintain accurate and up-to-date donor records, track fundraising progress, and generate donor reports and analytics.
5. Donor Communications: Develop compelling fundraising materials, including assisting in the development/scheduling of appeal letters, newsletters, and social media content, to effectively communicate the organization's impact and funding needs to donors and supporters. Collaborate with executive assistant in providing stewardship to donors by acknowledging gifts, sending thank you notes, and providing regular updates on the impact of their support.
6. Grant Writing and Management: Research grant opportunities, prepare grant proposals, and manage the grant application process to secure funding from foundations, government agencies, and other grant-making organizations. Develop grant proposals and applications, including budgets and supporting documents. Collaborate with Executive Director to gather information and data necessary for grant proposals. Maintain grant calendars/schedules and provide follow up results and impact statements for grants. Monitor and evaluate grant effectiveness.
7. Collaboration and Teamwork: Work closely with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and other staff members to align fundraising efforts with organizational goals and priorities. Stay informed about trends and best practices in nonprofit fundraising and donor relations.
8. Accountability: Prepare regular reports on fundraising and grant activities, revenue projections, and donor metrics for internal and external stakeholders. Monitor fundraising and grant performance and evaluate the effectiveness.

Qualifications:
 Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent practical experience in nonprofit management, fundraising, communications, business administration, or related field.
 Proven track record of success in securing major gifts, grants, and corporate sponsorships.
 Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate the organization's mission and impact to diverse audiences.
 Attention to detail
 Preferred experience with multiple social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, etc.).
 Preferred experience with graphic design (Canva, InDesign and other Adobe software, etc.)
 Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain relationships with donors, volunteers, and community partners.
 Proficiency in donor database management software (e.g., Bloomerang)
 Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
