Position Profile:
The Hospital Manager is a permanent full-time position, responsible for leading Wildlife Rescue’s medical and rehabilitation program. This essential role ensures the highest standards of care are achieved and maintained in alignment with Wildlife Rescue’s mission vision, and values. As a key member of the management team, the Hospital Manager plays a central role in data management, and in the collaboration between Wildlife Rescue's various departments, including Advancement, Support Centre, and Volunteer.

Salary: $58,240 – 62,400

Located in Burnaby, BC, we are western Canada’s busiest wildlife rehabilitation centre, with an average of 5,000 animal patients admitted each year.

Highlight of Key Responsibilities
• Oversee and direct animal care, medical treatments, and rehabilitation procedures, ensuring high-quality and consistent care.
• Lead, train, and develop Wildlife Hospital personnel, including Wildlife Technicians, RVTs, seasonal staff and volunteers.
• Ensure appropriate policies, protocols and standard operating procedures are developed, adhered to, and reviewed annually.
• Oversee the development of hospital program infrastructure, operational plans, and annual program budgets.
• Play a key role in the management of Wildlife Rescue’s hospital facilities including oversight of enclosure repairs and maintenance.
• Participate in all human resource activities for the Hospital program, including recruitments, onboarding, employee evaluations, scheduling, and timesheet and absence management approvals.
• Lead all data management practices related to the hospital program including the timely and accurate entry of patient information into the organization's Salesforce CRM.

Key Qualifications & Experience
• University degree or diploma in biological sciences, or a similar discipline.
• Minimum of 3 years experience working in a wildlife rehabilitation setting.
• Minimum of 1-year supervisory experience with the proven ability to lead and motivate others.
• Experience with wildlife rehabilitation standards of care, husbandry practices, euthanasia, and basic medical procedures.
• Experience working with various bird species, reptiles, amphibians, and bats.
• Experience planning and performing treatments including sample collection and lab results analysis.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills, relationship-building skills, and a high level of integrity.
• High emotional intelligence, demonstrating self-awareness, social awareness, and empathy.
• Strong time-management skills with the ability to prioritize and be highly adaptable to changing work environments.
• Understanding of operational and strategic planning and budget management, is an asset.
• Certified Wildlife Rehabilitator certification (CWR) is an asset.
• Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and statutory holidays.
