He was kidnapped from the wild in August 2021 and kept as a pet. The finder said he had dog chew injuries. He was surrendered to our center in Jan 2024. He had an active infection (which has been treated) and is severely obese. He has carapacial scute pyramiding/abnormal signs of development due to improper husbandry while kept as a pet.

He either doesn't react or moves underwater and hides under his dock or aquatic plants. He isn't habituated and doesn't like being held, but once he's put down he goes on his way and enjoys long walks outside. If he's in an open area he doesn't mind if anyone is around him, just does his own thing. He will snap at people if provoked (ex: injections), but if he's able to go into a static display he would have a good quality of life.

We're looking for a static display for this common snapping turtle that was kidnapped from the wild and kept as a pet for 2.5 years. He was surrendered to our rehab facility and had an infection as well as signs of abnormal development due to improper husbandry. He would be very happy in a pond with space to walk around on land and soak in the sun! Please email me at rosejoanna511@gmail.com if you have any questions.
