The Wildlife Center of the North Coast in Astoria, Oregon, is seeking a part-time Wildlife Rehabilitation Technician. Purpose of Position:
Under the supervision—both direct and indirect—of the Rehabilitation Coordinator (RC), the Wildlife Rehabilitation Technician (WRT) assists in the admission, rehabilitation, and release of WCNC’s wildlife patients.

Duties and Responsibilities:
In accordance with the organizational policies and protocols, duties include, but are not limited to:

Trains, supervises, and works closely with Wildlife Care Volunteers
Maintains accurate records of wildlife patients
Performs medical procedures appropriate to skill level and training
Answers wildlife hotline
Arranges, and performs, wildlife rescue/transport
Assists/supervises diet-prep for wildlife patients
Maintains a sanitary environment for patients to recover

The Wildlife Rehabilitation Technician works under the guidance of the Rehabilitation Coordinator, and is expected to pursue the established duties without direct supervision. Written performance evaluations will be given after the first three months, and first twelve months of work, and annually thereafter.

Requirements:
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent, and be able to read, write, and speak clearly in English so that written and verbal instructions can be followed
Must be a self-starter, able to take initiative and work independently in an efficient and productive manner. Must be organized and flexible, and be able to balance multiple projects
Must be able to work cooperatively with people, and to communicate clearly about WCNC’s mission. Must also be able to represent WCNC in a professional manner, at all times
Must be able to work maturely and respectfully with diverse groups of people, and maintain high-quality public relations. Must possess excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, and be able to assist in creating a positive work environment built on team concepts
Must have basic computer skills
Must be able to respectfully work around wild animals so as to not cause unnecessary stress
Experience working in a wildlife rehabilitation center or other non-profit animal rescue preferred
Valid driver’s license
