Job Title: Senior Rehabilitation Technician
Reports to: Director of Rehabilitation
Compensation: $20-24 hourly. Salary commensurate with experience.
Type of Position: Full-Time

Organization Summary:
Through wildlife rehabilitation and public education, Cascades Raptor Center fosters a connection between people and birds of prey. We are a wildlife hospital and nature center open to the public year-round.

General Description of Position:
The Senior Rehabilitation Technician will assist in all aspects of the wildlife hospital. They will assist the Director of Rehabilitation in all aspects of the rehabilitation program and in the absence of the Rehabilitation Director they will manage the hospital independently.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assist and conduct daily clinic rounds and treatments.
• Perform intake stabilization of patients upon arrival at the hospital.
• Conduct laboratory diagnostics (fecal analysis, hematology, radiology).
• Prepare food and feed the hospital/rehab patients.
• Calculate, dispense, and apply drugs as prescribed by the veterinarian.
• Conduct treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
• Update the Treatment and Medication Board.
• Answering and assessing Wildlife Hotline emergency calls.
• Liaise with neighboring facilities concerning the transfer of raptors and other animals.
• Management of volunteers & interns (selection of candidates with director, training, scheduling, and coordination).
• Supervise the Rehabilitation Assistant in the absence of the Rehabilitation Director.
• Shared responsibilities of overall roles regarding maintaining, organizing, cleaning, ordering, and restocking, all hospital facilities, equipment, and rehabilitation aviaries.
• Data collection and computer charting.
• Preparation of bi-annual and annual ODFW and USFW reports.
• Assist with off-site rehabilitation work (rescues, nest surveys, post-renesting monitoring, releases) as required.
• Social media posts, in cooperation with the Rehabilitation Director and Development Director.
• Other duties as required

IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE:
The ideal candidate will have a solid knowledge of native raptor species and their ecology, good interpersonal and communication skills, experience with wildlife, experience managing volunteers, excellent organizational skills, and a strong team player.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• The strongest candidates are Certified Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant with laboratory experience. Individuals with Bachelor’s degrees in Biology, Environmental Science, or Veterinary Medicine are encouraged to apply if they meet the qualifications below:
o One year of volunteer or work experience at a wildlife rehabilitation facility.
o Solid understanding of animal biology and ecology, natural history of raptor species in Oregon, and their habitats.
o Experience working in a veterinary facility.
o Valid Driver’s License
o Ability to independently manage projects.

Working hours:
The working hours are 40 hours per week. Morning, evening, and weekend hours are required. Due to the nature of the work, flexibility in hours worked is required.
