Position Profile:
Our Wildlife Technician (RVT) is a flexible, 24-40 hours per week, permanent position responsible for supporting the delivery of treatment, rehabilitation, and care for our wildlife patients. This essential position takes a leadership role in Wildlife Rescue’s medical program.

Wage:
$25.00 - $27.00 Hourly

Established in 1979, Wildlife Rescue Association of BC is a leader in the rehabilitation of wild animals and is committed to educating the public on how to coexist peacefully with wildlife. Located in Burnaby, BC, we are western Canada’s busiest wildlife rehabilitation centre, with over 5,000 animal patients admitted each year.

Our Hospital program is at the heart of our mission, offering care and treatment to wildlife that have been injured, orphaned, or affected by pollution. Our facility is open 365 days a year, providing care for a wide range of bird species, reptiles, and bats.

Highlight of Key Responsibilities
• Support in the daily delivery of treatment, rehabilitation, and care for our wildlife patients, including admission, examination,
housing, nutrition, pain and wound management, record keeping and monitoring
• Maintain animal care standards by identifying and conducting required research, statistical analysis, case studies, modifications and
improvements, and facility repairs
• Manage the monthly inventory and ordering of medical supplies, including the coordination of medical equipment servicing
• Take the lead in ensuring appropriate policies, protocols and standard operating procedures are developed, adhered to, and
reviewed for the medical program, in collaboration with the Hospital Managers and consulting veterinarians
• Lead, train, supervise, and support in the development of volunteers within the organization
• Contribute to identifying, exploring, and applying initiatives and programs that carry out the organization’s mission

Key Qualifications & Experience
• Previous wildlife rehabilitation experience
• Must be a Registered Veterinary Technologist
• Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills
• Ability to motivate others and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment
• Computer skills: MS Office
• Experience developing and implementing standard operating procedures and protocols
• Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and statutory holidays (no overnight shifts)
• Knowledge of native wildlife in BC, particularly the Lower Mainland region an asset

• Applicants must be entitled to work in Canada
• All candidates must be willing to submit proof of current tetanus and COVID-19 vaccination and to obtain a criminal record check as
per policy. Rabies vaccination is a requirement to work with bats.
