Reason for entering rehabilitation.:

These coyotes came into care when their parents were killed when they were only days old.

Issues developed while undergoing rehabilitation.:

Aside from habituation to people, these coyotes have no behavioral or medical issues. They are vaccinated, dewormed, and on heartworm prevention.

Body condition score (5 point scale as defined on https://nagonline.net/3877/body-condition-scoring/): 3.5

Can the animal express species-typical behaviors (e.g. eat appropriate whole foods, climb, perch, groom, dig, fly, swim, ambulate normally for species)?:

Yes, and they do!

Both coyotes are excited to see people and, depending on the person and situation, will wag their tails, roll over onto their backs, display play behaviors, and approach with curiosity.

Both coyotes are excited to see people and, depending on the person and situation, will wag their tails, roll over onto their backs, display play behaviors, and approach with curiosity. One is more reserved, especially with strangers. There has been at least one instance where the friendlier one growled and raised his hackles when a male stranger approached.

We would like to place these coyotes together if possible. Both are males. They are quite friendly with people, curious of and interactive with their environment, and do not exhibit signs of stress. Email laurab@howellnaturecenter.org if interested.
