This cardinal, known as Bunny around our center, came in after being attacked by a cat. She was suffering from a broken right humerus, as well as a fracture to her right femur. She has since healed from both breaks, however, her humerus fused, rendering her flightless.

Because of her flightless condition, she tends to stay on the ground when in our outdoor enclosure. She does navigate to her food and water dishes well, and is able to hop (hence the name Bunny) onto our lower perches and plants.
yes
She tends to keep to herself, but she does not become overly stressed when we enter her enclosure. Normally she finds a perch to sit and watch while we go about feeding and cleaning.
She reacts very similarly to strangers.

Bunny is currently housed in our small outdoor aviary with our other non-releasable songbirds (who are also looking for homes).
She gets along well with our yellow crested flycatcher best, as they are normally housed together when inside. However, she does not seem to have any issues with our residents. The other birds she is housed with include
3 Mourning Doves, 1 Carolina Wren and 1 Northern Mockingbird.
We have had her for quite a while, so it is bittersweet to re home her, but we look forward to her going to a home with more time to give her the attention and enrichment she deserves.
If you're interested, please don't hesitate to reach out at wakullawildlife@gmail.com
I can send pictures, talk more about her diet, etc!
Thank you so much for your consideration!
