When preferred caregivers are nearby, she shows no fear and will come up to the cage door and will easily interact. When regular caregivers who are not her preferred people are nearby, she flies to the back of the cage and does not interact.
She shows fear depending on the strangers appearance/behavior. In a best case scenario, the stranger approaching will only cause her to fly to the back of the cage. In a worst case scenario if she is particularly perturbed by the stranger, then she may fly back and forth in the cage and open mouth breath.

We are seeking a different option for a current crow ambassador. This crow has been in care for two years with a very unstable flow of training staff - and such has not had the best introduction into their ambassadorship training. We have determined that her needs are not something that we can meet at our facility, and are seeking out if there are any trainers or facilities willing to invest time into her to help her become a good ambassador. We suspect she would be best as a static display ambassador, but do believe there is a possibility of her being capable of more with the right amount of time and effort invested into her.

She is about 3 or 4 years old, and tends to pick one person who she prefers and will readily train with. She has been readily trainable in the past for simple tricks such as catching food in the air, spinning on command, target training, placing herself on a scale, and many other actions. She has had difficulty with becoming more comfortable and able to do these behaviors around a larger variety of people and trainers, however. She does exhibit stress behaviors when unfamiliar stimuli or people are close to her cage, but has shown marked improvement in her comfort with this from when she first started to be on display. Otherwise, she eats well, grooms herself, plays with enrichment, and shows lots of crow specific natural behavior when alone in the cage or with preferred trainers.

We unfortunately have reached the limit of what our very small team can do for her, but feel that she does have some potential that we are not able to realize with our resources here. She has had a rough start and definitely has a lot to improve on to become a good ambassador, but may be able to thrive under proper care.

If interested you can reach out to us via email at info@rockfishwildlifesanctuary.org. We are also happy to provide more details about her and her training as needed. Thanks!
