Wildlife Rehabber
The Wildlife Rehabilitator, who works under the direction of the Licensed Wildlife rehabilitator, will work with the rehabilitation team to provide care for rehabilitation patients in our center. This position also works in cooperation with the vet staff, supervisors of all aspects of
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Supervise and assist supervisors, managers and staff of all wildlife areas i.e. rescues, admissions, rehab and releases.
• Along with the Licensed Rehabilitator and with two full-time veterinarians collaborate on treatment and rehabilitation plans for the patients in our center.
• Supervise and assist staff through each animal’s rehabilitation process to release.
• Supervise and assist managers and staff in the training of new employees and volunteers and the record keeping of those trainees’ skills.
• Collaborate with the Licensed Rehabilitator and the two full-time veterinarians to determine the final disposition of the rehabilitation patients, to evaluate and ensure timely and appropriate release.
• Collaborate with vets and staff on foster and education animal health checks, enrichment, routine treatments and record keeping.
• Assist with reporting to appropriate government agencies to ensure compliance and reporting that meeting the licensing requirements.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in animal science, Veterinary Sciences, zoology, or another animal-related field OR equivalent.
• CWR from IWRC and NWRA.
• Minimum one-year full-time employment at a busy rehab center rehabilitating a wide variety of species.
• Vet Tech or advanced NWRA training in medical treatments and basic IWRC certificate.
• Chemical Capture certification a plus.
• Experience supervising staff.
• Ability to obtain a State and Federal wildlife Rehabilitator License within four months of hire.
