Job Title: Program Volunteer Recruitment Coordinator – Volunteer Position (non paid)

Position will begin in December 2026

Wildlife Rehabilitation Center Program: We take in injured and orphaned urban wildlife from the Tri Cities, rehabilitate them and release them back to the wild.

Ohlone Humane Society is a nonprofit animal welfare organization that serves the Tri-City area in the East Bay. We care for animals and the community through humane programs and services. Ohlone Humane Society is privately funded and relies on the generous support of our community through donations and volunteering.

Duties/Responsibilities:
● Responsible for the recruitment of 50 new volunteers each year
● Set up recruitment advertising programs via the web, intranet, and media
● Review incoming new volunteer applications and correspond with new applicants
● Manage the volunteer database
● Interview and hire volunteers, placing volunteers in different roles based on their qualifications and maintaining accurate volunteer records
● Community outreach activities to promote OHSWRC
● Conduct 4 on line 90 minute orientation classes to new volunteers in March and April
● Disseminate and track continuing education requirements for all volunteers
● Conduct background checks on all new volunteers
● Set up and maintain our on line volunteer shift tracking program via Jibble
● Set up and monitor volunteer web based shift sign up website
● Organize yearly open house event for the public in October
● Coordinate volunteer recruitment for yearly fundraiser with Crippsmas Place in December

Skills/Competencies:
● Advanced knowledge of Excel and Power Point
● Public speaking skills
● Program management skills
