Katie became interested in pursuing wildlife medicine during veterinary school. After graduating from Kansas State with her DVM she spent time volunteering with wildlife and captive raptors which culminated in a year long veterinary medicine internship at the Center for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife. After a few years of clinical practice she began working with the IWRC in 2017. Her interests include improving communication between rehabilitators and veterinarians, international wildlife rehabilitation, and public education. She divides her free time between her two children and birding.
