Taking Care of Staff & Volunteers

Rehabilitators work incredibly hard but their pay is often not commensurate and their hours long and intense. Volunteers may find it difficult to get the support they need or transition into a paid position in the field.

• Jenny Schlieps is the Program Manager and Rehabilitation Manager for Focus Wildlife. She is an NWRA board member as well as a founding member of the Washington Wildlife Rehabilitation Association.
• Rebecca Garner is an Animal Care Technician and Volunteer Coordinator at Walden’s Puddle. She studied Animal Ecology at Iowa State University and was an Interpretation/Avian Husbandry Fellow at Alaska SeaLife Center.
